I feel discomfort when asked to describe ‘what I am’, ‘what I do’. Am I maker, designer, artist, craftsman? All I know is that the process, the meditation of making, quiets my mind ...
I am not interested in creating a reproduction of the visible world ... but in exploring many different ideas ... fragility and strength, surface, shape, colour and lightness, repetition, materials and the ways they can be used, ritual and memory, domesticity and the contemplative ... in creating new forms to illustrate concepts and concerns ...
Sometimes my work is about the simplest things and sometimes about the more complex, conveyed in the simplest way I can. |
