As
a jewellery designer/maker, Belinda's ongoing motivation is to
develop her creative expression through innovative design. Her
production range of brooches, earrings and neckpieces are produced
combining components which have been textures with fabric rolled
patterns and computer engraved text. The combination of computer
processes, developed into wearable handcrafted pieces provides
a fusion of modern technologies and traditional making techniques,
to produce contemporary jewellery.
The
computer engraved text series evolved from an exhibition entitled
'context' and is an exploration of language. The pieces trace
the fluidity of words and ambiguities of meaning within the English
language. I have been examining the interrelations of the spelling;
meanings and phonetics of the words pare pear pair and cite sight
site. This has highlighted the difficulties English poses to learn,
but also the engaging crossovers in meanings. |
