| In
the time that Bowden has been making jewellery she has come to
be associated with a bold clarity of form and a distinctive, pared-down
aesthetic that shuns timidity, but not sensitivity.
‘Zen’
series
The sculptural severity of the Zen ring - a solid, open band of
gold or silver rotates through ninety degrees. Bowden deftly controls
the twisting and forming of these curves through her mastery of
metal, visually quoting the Japanese tradition of wrapping.
‘Woven’
series
The stark geometry of sterling silver squares, ellipses and rectangles
provide the frame for hand woven, 22ct, 18ct white, green and
yellow gold. All woven sections are created using a process of
twining fine wires around the warp that form the structure and
main shape of the pieces. This collection is an ongoing signature
that reflects Bowden's love of detail.
I
have always loved working with metal and have a fascination with
detail. |
