Every now and then tiny islands of cultural eccentricities rear out of the urban landscape to capture my creative focus. I’m investigating urban motifs and iconography. Signs punctuate our environment and direct or prohibit our gaze. When brought into a jewellery context, however, the interplay recasts the symbolism; bizarre theatre is acted out when placing impersonal objects on the body. The body becomes a surreal landscape, where wearables mark out the boundaries that enclose or repel.
