Cuttlefish
This jewellery is created using an old and peculiar process, known to gold and silversmiths for centuries, whereby molten silver is poured into a mould made from cuttlefish. The pattern imparted is transposed directly from the mould and reminds the viewer of similar patterns that occur in nature such as fingerprints, and ripples left in sand. I enjoy using this process because of its immediacy and the unlikely results that occur when working with natural materials.
This collection of work, uses this organic texture to create rings of pre-industrial character, in classical and natural forms. |
