Breast Flower Brooches and pendants 11 – 25 May 2008 Inspired by motherhood Belinda Newick’s new collection is crafted from engraved silver. Brooches and pendants reflect delicate floral imagery, blossoming into form. This is a new body of work exploring the complex network of breast ducts and lobules. I have been drawn to three dimensional medical images of the lactiferous ducts within the complex structure of the upper body. Abstracting these images to create textures on the metal surface, brings to the outside the beauty, fragility and intricacy of the inner workings. |
