Renowned Australian Silversmith launches new collection of sculptural objects at Studio Ingot
An integral part of Wayne Guest’s career as a Silversmith has been the design and making of functional silverware including jugs, vessels and teapots. The essential consideration in the design of table wear is the containment and movement of fluid. Themed around water this new collection departs from the functional and focuses on the exploration of fluid from a different perspective. Interpreting the qualities of water in metal Guest creates a lyrical interpretation this element.
“I have a fascination with the solid characteristics of water when it is frozen and the surface tensions when it is fluid. The same element can appear to be so different as a solid or a liquid.”
